Welcome!

My name is Tina Bernu, the new Region 4 Webmaster. If you have any problems with anything on this site or have any suggestions for improvement, email me at webmaster@region4.us.mensa.org . I will slowly be changing the references to Stan Ward, the previous webmaster, but I plan to leave much of his work on the site since he has lots of extremely good information. Great job Stan!

Have a wonderful day!

Mensa International, the High IQ Society, is an international organization whose only membership requirement is a score in the top two percent of the general population on a standardized intelligence test.  It was founded in Great Britain in 1946.  Mensa currently boasts over 100,000 members in over 100 countries, organized into 41 national groups.

American Mensa has more than 50,000 members in nearly 140 local chapters.

In Mensa, members can meet other stimulating people, join one of over 150 special interest groups, and attend local, national, and international events.  Mensa encourages and supports programs for gifted children, sponsors research into the nature of intelligence and awards thousands of dollars in scholarships each year.

What's the point of having a platform visible to millions (well, dozens anyway) of intelligent people without spouting off once in a while?

The SoapBox

Did you know?
Not an acronym, the word mensa has a triple meaning in Latin of mind, table, and month, which suggests a monthly meeting of great minds around a table.  For other background information on Mensa, visit the Mensa FAQ and the Mensa History pages.

Don't have a local group website yet?

Mensa estimates that over 50% of its new members now come from the web.  If your local group doesn't have a web site, contact Tina Bernu at webmaster@region4.us.mensa.org and we'll be glad to assist you in getting one started, or advertise your events until you do.  It's easy, and it doesn't cost your group a dime!  See the article in the Soapbox for more information.
