Local GroupsLocal Groups plan activities and get-togethers for members. These activities vary depending upon the interests of the local members. Most members of Mensa are found to be more on the introverted side, but it is very enjoyable to meet with and discuss extremely diverse topics. Topics can range from deep and philosophical, to hilarious, or even stuff that should be censored. (Don't get me wrong, I have yet to meet a Mensan who is vulgar; they always ask permission before telling an "adult" joke.) Why do members attend local group activities? Some members come to meetings to engage in deep subjects because they have the need to connect with people of the same intellect. Other members come to get away from deep intellect (such as a high tech job) and are in search of a good time. It is quite often that I hear somebody comment "Wow! These people actually get my jokes!" Come and enjoy the diversity. Where can I find information about MY local group? The most updated information for Local Groups can be found at American Mensa's Local Groups. For your convenience, a link to each individual Region 4 Group is listed below.
Local group Newsletter accessIf you are interested in reading your local group's newsletter, you can access the electronic version on the American Mensa web site's Local Group Newsletters as long as you have your member number and password. Since American Mensa lists the newsletters in alphabetical order by the title of the newsletter, the titles for each local group are listed below.
